Suicide bomber kills at least five persons

In Pakistan, at least five persons were killed on Monday when a suicide bomber targeted an anti-Taliban tribal elder in a volatile region in the North West Frontier Province. The suicide attacker rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into the car of the pro-government tribal elder Malik Abdul Hakim near a police check post in the Bannu area on Monday morning. Reports said that Hakim was among those killed by the blast, but this has not been confirmed yet. Hakim was a key member of a peace committee formed to fight the Taliban. The attack occurred on the road leading to Miranshah, the main town in the troubled North Waziristan tribal region. A suicide attack on a police station in Bannu town had killed at least 15 people and injured over 60 persons two days ago.<br/>
