In Afghanistan, at least 12 people were killed and over 83 injured in a suicide car bomb explosion near Indian embassy in Kabul on Thursday morning. Three ITBP personnel were slightly injured in the attack directed at Indian embassy. The foreign Secretary Mrs. Nirupama Rao said that the Indian Ambassador in Kabul Jayanta Prasad has informed her that all the members of the embassy and other staff are safe. She said that the intensity of the blast was more or less the same as the one in July last year on the mission. The Foreign Secretary said that after the last year's blast stringent measures had been put in place to safeguard the physical security of the personnel as well as the embassy in Kabul. She said that those measures worked effectively and were able to prevent the tragedy similar to the one last year. AIR Kabul correspondent reports the suicide bomber was targeting to enter the embassy but was stopped at the gate and exploded himself. One United Nations vehicle was damaged in the blast. Windows in surrounding shops were shattered. No body has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. <br/>Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has condemned the incident. The United States has also condemned the blast directed against the Indian embassy in Kabul. The US Ambassador in India Mr. Timothy Roamer expressed his serious concern over the blast. He said that his heart goes out to India and the victims of terror. <br/> <br/><br/>
