Suicide bomb explosion kills 20 people in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, at least 20 people have been killed and about 50 injured in a suicide bomb explosion in eastern province of Paktika. The Afghan Interior Ministry on Monday said three militants carried out the attack late Sunday using a truck carrying a large amount of explosives. The attackers shot their way into the compound used by a road construction company before detonating the bomb. Spokesman for the provincial governor Mokhles Afghan said engineers, construction workers and security guards were among those killed in the blast. Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Al Qaeda-linked Haqqani network, which is based in North Waziristan in Pakistan, is particularly active in Paktika. The group is loyal to the Taliban and has been blamed for some of the deadliest attacks in Afghanistan.
