In Afghanistan, one policeman was killed and four civilians were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself in nothern Kunduz province today morning. Deputy provincial police chief Abdul Rahman Haqtash said a suicide bomber targeted a police checkpoint in Kunduz city, killing a policeman and injuring four civilians. Meanwhile, UN envoy, Staffan de Mistura told the Security Council last night that that security may get worse before it gets better. He said that the combined activity by the Afghan and international forces is intensifying and showing results. The UN envoy asserted that conditions for reconciliation in Afghanistan are becoming more favorable and that there may soon be a real opportunity for a political dialogue leading to a settlement. The Security Council members reiterated that the Parliamentary elections carried out under difficult security conditions under full Afghan ownership constitute an important milestone in the vital political process in Afghanistan.
