Suicide attack on a military base leaves ten dead in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, a suicide attack on a military base in the eastern Laghman province has killed ten people and injured 8 others. According to Afghan defence ministry officials, the blast took place this morning in an army base in Gambiray area of the province. The officials said the suicide bomber was wearing a military uniform during the blast in which five foreign and five Afghan troops have died. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing. The attack is the worst single incident since December against foreign forces in Afghanistan, and comes amid a wave of suicide attacks on security targets, three months before foreign forces are to start a limited pullback.
