In Uttar Pradesh sugar cane farmers organised Chakka Jam at several places across the state including in Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar and Faizabad districts. Rail and road traffic was disrupted on Saharanpur – Delhi routs and several others roads in the districts.<br/><br/>Quoting official sources our Lucknow correspondent reports that Chakka jam was by and large peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from any where. Although Rashtriya Lok Dal had called off its state wide Chakka Jam following sugar mills association decision to hike incentive on cane prices by a total of 25 rupees per quintal but its national secretary MLC Mr. Munna Singh Chauhan organised Chakka Jam in Faizabad district at three places.<br/><br/>Meanwhile state government official have claimed that as many as 79 sugar mills have started operating in the state after UP Sugar Mills Association announced to hike incentive on sugarcane. Mills, which have started operating, include 61 private units, 15 from the sugar federation and three from the state sugar corporation.<br/><br/>The UPSMA had yesterday announced to pay an incentive of 25 rupees per quintal to farmers, over state advisory price of 160-170 rupees announced by the government. The Bharatiya Kisan Union has also announced to organise demonstration on 1st of next month seeking enhancement in sugarcane prices.<br/>
