Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said, the Government has taken necessary steps to maintain sufficient stocks of sugar to keep its prices under check and assured that there will be no shortage of domestically produced sugar in country.<br/><br/>After reviewing the prices and availability of sugar in the country at a meeting in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Paswan said, the production of sugar has been estimated at about 22.52 million tonnes in the current sugar season. <br/><br/>He said, the total availability of sugar in the country would be sufficient to meet the domestic consumption. An official release said, the sugar production in the next sugar season is expected to be good.
