The retail prices of sugar have gone up by 10 rupees a kilogram. However, there is no change in its prices in Delhi and Bhubaneshwar. This is based on the latest data released by the Consumer Affairs Ministry. However, there has been a moderate downward revision in the wholesale prices in leading markets like Delhi and Mumbai after the government announced a series of measures to rein in sugar prices. The Food and Consumer Affairs Minister, Mr. Sharad Pawar and the Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee had promised that the measures taken by the government will bring down the prices of sugar within ten days.
