Sudirman Cup: Sindhu saves pride as Denmark beat India 4-1

In Badminton, India suffered a 1-4 loss to Denmark in their opening match of the Sudirman Cup mixed team championship at Gold Coast, Australia today. Up against two-time runners-up Denmark, India lost the first three ties, mixed doubles, men's singles and men's double, to go down 0-3 in the five-match rubber. Star shuttler P.V Sindhu's win was the only bright spot on a dismal day for India as she won her women's singles tie, making it 1-3. While the women's doubles team also lost its tie making the scoreline 1-4. India will next face former champions Indonesia on Wednesday. Sudirman Cup is the world mixed team badminton championship which takes place every two years.
