Executive Secretary of UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Mr. Yvo de Boer, said the success of Copenhagen climate change talks hinges on commitment to deeper carbon cuts by rich nations, limit on greenhouse gas emissions by developing countries and a strong financial package backed by a mechanism for its dispersal. Talking to newsmen in New Delhi, Mr. Boer said Copenhagen has to deliver clear, ambitious, individual emission reduction target from industralised countries. The summit will be held in December this year. He said for developing countries to be able to engage in efforts to contain climate change, they need to see a significant financial package for adoption and mitigation coming at the table at Copehnagen.

Mr. Boer said the United Nations is looking for a short-term funding and the actual money that has to be on the table in Copenhagen for the countries to begin the strategies to tackle climate change to limit their carbon emissions.
