Substantial progress made in implementing Joint Communiqu’: B’desh foreign minister

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni on Monday said that substantial progress has been made in implementing the Joint Communiqu’ issued during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India last year especially on matters related to sharing of the Teesta waters, border issues and bilateral trade. Responding to reporter’s questions during a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Dhaka, Dr.Dipu Moni said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's visit to Dhaka is expected to help in fulfilling the aspirations raised following Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to New Delhi last year.The Foreign Minister said that no date has been fixed for Dr.Singh’s visit to Bangladesh but added that it would happen soon. On the issue of levying fees for giving transit facilities to India, Dr.Dipumoni said that it is a big issue involving several factors and work is being done to ensure a win-win situation for all.
