Strong relations between India and China essential: Dalai Lama

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama has said that the strong relations between India and China are essential for both the countries and world peace. Talking to media in Bhopal today, he said it will also help to solve Tibetan problem. Dalai Lama said that there is a need of genuine friendship between these two nuclear powers and densely populated countries of the world, based on mutual trust. For mutual trust between India and China, transparency on different matters including defense spending is essential. Favouring the resolution of Tibetan problem within the Chinese constitution, he said that whether the Chinese Government acknowledges it or not, there is a serious problem in Tibet. When asked a question about giving Tibet a status of buffer state, Dalai Lama said that he is not in favour of this idea as the Tibetan issue is related with 6 million people and not with the institution of Dalai Lama. The spiritual leader said Tibetan people will decide that the institution of Dalai Lama should continue or not.
