The government has expressed concern over pendency of cases in courts which is going to touch five crores in the country. In reply to supplementaries during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha today, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said, from the government's side, strong measures are being taken to reduce the pendency of cases. He said, the reason behind the pendency is the issue of appointment of Judges in Supreme Court and High Courts. He said, the government has a limited role in the appointment of judges and they are being appointed on the recommendation of the Collegium system. Mr Rijiju added until the new system of appointment of Judges is adopted, the pendency of cases issues would keep coming. On the National Judicial Appointments Commission, which was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2015, the Minister said, several retired Judges and legal luminaries have expressed their opinion that rejection of the NJAC by the Apex Court was not the right decision.<br />'' &nbsp;
