Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said that the fundamentals and present situation of India's economy are quite strong and if the country continues to tread the path of growth and fiscal consolidation as of now, India will certainly be able to face the emerging challenges successfully. The Finance Minister was delivering a speech on ‘Indian Economy and Challenges in the Future’ at a programme in Nagpur last evening. The annual budget is only one of the instruments to achieve planned economic growth as per the economic scenario on the national as well as international level. Earlier, the Finance Minister addressed the valedictory function of the 62nd batch of Indian Revenue Service at National Academy of Direct Taxes in Nagpur. Mr. Mukherjee also laid the foundation stone of the Advanced Training Centre being set up at the cost of 160 crore rupees at the same campus.<br/>
