Strong earthquakes rattle Papua New Guinea & Fiji

Earthquakes rattled Papua New Guinea and Fiji today. A strong 6.9-magnitude earthquake rattled Papua New Guinea, but there was no immediate threat of a Tsunami.The US Geological Survey said, the quake struck at a depth of 32 kilometres, 37 kilometres northeast of Kandrian in the New Britain region. Seismologists on the ground in PNG said they were still seeking information about the extent of any damage. Another 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Fiji region, although there were no reports of damage and no tsunami warning was in effect. The US Geological Survey said the undersea quake struck at a shallow depth of 15.2 kilometres around 185 kilometres southwest of the South Pacific island of Vanua Levu, Fiji.
