Strong earthquake hits Philippines

Philippines, a series of four strong earthquakes spanning just over an hour struck the Moro Gulf early today. According to the US Geological Survey, three of the four earthquakes had magnitudes between 7.3 and 7.6 while the other had a magnitude of 5.4. The first quake struck at 6:08 a.m. and the fourth hit at 7:15 a.m. The last quake ran the deepest at 616 kilometers. The epicenters of the quakes were about 100 kilometers off the coastal city of Cotabato. No tsunami warning was immediately issued for any of the quakes and there were no reports of damage.In Indonesia also, a strong earthquake with a magintude of 6, hit North Sumatra province today. The local Meteorological agency said, the quake struck at 9.11 a.m. local time, 18 kilometres north-west of Panyabungan, at a depth of 10 kilometres, Police official said, the quake was felt quite strongly. Many people panicked. The situation has returned to normal now. There are no reports of any casualty or damage.
