Chief Election Commissioner Dr. S.Y. Quraishi has said that stringent measures will be initiated to check money and muscle power in the election.After reviewing poll preparedness for the forthcoming Manipur Assembly elections at Imphal today, Dr. Quraishi said that a separate expenditure monitoring division under one Director General has been set up by the Commission.He said that a shadow account register for each candidate will be opened to account the actual election expenditure incurred by the candidates.The Chief Election Commission along with two other Election Commissioners -i V.S. Sampath and M.S. Brahma held discussions with the representatives of seven political parties including one local party. Quraishi said that the problem of paid news was also figured during the meeting with representatives of political parties. He said, media certification and monitoring committee will be set up in each district to keep strict watch on paid news this time.
