In Tamil Nadu, the indefinite strike by Rameswaram and Nagapattinam fishermen protesting against continued attacks by Sri Lankan Navy has affected the export of prawns which has a huge market abroad. The indefinite strike has led to daily export loss of about 2 crore rupees. The ice plants, export houses and other industries connected with fishing are affected badly. The fishermen from Nagai are condemning the brutal attacks by Sri Lankan Navy on the fishermen from Nambiar Nagar in the district. The fishermen of Rameswaram continued their indefinite strike for the eleventh day today urging the release of 19 fishermen who are still lodged in Sri Lankan jail.
