Strict action will be taken against any athlete found guilty of drug abuse: Gill

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mr M S Gill today said that strict action will be taken against any athlete found guilty of drug abuse. Speaking at a function in New Delhi today, Mr Gill asserted that checking will be prompt and testing will be quick and accurate. Eight Indian sportspersons including five selected for the Commonwealth Games have tested positive for a banned substance. Four of them, men's freestyle wrestlers Rajiv Tomar, an Arjuna Awardee, Sumit and Mausam Khatri and women's freestyle wrestler Gursharanpreet Kaur were removed from the Games squad after they failed their "B" sample tests as well. Earlier Megha Chaudhary a netball player also tested positive for steroids.
