In Jammu and Kashmir, Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department Sheetal Nanda today inaugurated Capacity Strengthening and Training on ODF activities under Sujal and Swachh Gaon at Panchayat Bhawan, Jammu. Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under Ministry of Jal Shakti, in partnership with Development Partner UNICEF and PRIMOVE, Pune has launched a Capacity Strengthening initiative at the National level, followed by an extensive roll out in all the States and Union Territories across the country. The initiative is to target Village level functionaries for training and capacity building for Jal Jeevan Mission and ODF activities. ODF is an extension of the Open Defecation Free programme under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen which aims at to sustain ODF status and Solid Liquid Waste Management. The intention of Jal Jeevan Mission is a functional household tap connection, source sustainability, greywater management, operation and maintenance of water supply system. Subsequently, the trainers shall impart training/capacity building at the grass root level. UNICEF (Technical support of DDWS) is facilitating these pieces of training across the Union Territory of J&K. The training programme is being conducted in two batches, first from 2nd to 6th and second from 11th to15th of March.<br />''  <br />
