Streamline grievance redressal mechanism for service delivery:Cab Secy

The Government has stressed the need for strengthening the grievance redressal machinery to meet expectations of the common man and also to ensure transparency. Regretting that many organisations have still not upgraded and streamlined their grievance redressal mechanisms, Cabinet Secretary Mr. Ajit Seth today said there needs to be better coordination for expeditious disposal of grievances. He said this while, addressing a two day workshop on Capability Building of Ministries and Departments for proper delivery of services in New Delhi this morning. He also asked the departments to deliver according to promises made in the Citizens Charter.

Stating that the Citizens Charter is the most visible part of the Department, Mr. Seth said it must reflect its commitment and services as a mirror. Expressing concern over public ignorance of the Centralized Public Grievances Redress And Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) Departments at the Centre and State, need to publicise it widely, so people can use this online facility.

Our correspondent reports that several Ministries and Departments of the Central and State governments are regularly being sensitized on effective public grievance redressal.
