International Monetary Fund Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has resigned as managing director of the International Monetary Fund. Strauss-Kahn's resignation follows allegations against him of sexual assault of a hotel maid in New York. In a statement 62 year old, Mr Strauss-Kahn, said he had already informed the executive board of his intention to step down with immediate effect. Meanwhile, Dominique Strauss-Kahn has again firmly denied the criminal charges against him. He is being detained in New York's prison and is expected to make a new plea for bail shortly.
