Both Houses of Parliament have been adjourned for the day today. The Rajya Sabha was adjourned immediately after paying tributes to two sitting members, Dr. Ram Dayal Munda, Silvius Condpan and two former MPs who passed away during the intervening period. The Lok Sabha, also paid homage to six of its former members. The Lok Sabha was first adjourned till noon and later for the day after members raised a host of issues including hike in the cotton prices and demand for a separate Telangana State. Some members were pressing for adjournment motions to be taken up.
Several BJP members objected to Home Minister P. Chidambaram replying to a question in the Lok Sabha. Our correspondent reports the NDA has announced to move an adjournment motion on black money and the Left parties on price rise.
As the papers were being laid in the Lok Sabha, the members raised their voice despite repeated pleas by the Presiding Officer to restore order. This led to the second adjournment of the House.
The two Houses expressed sympathies with the next of kin of those killed in the earthquake in Sikkim, the fire tragedy in Delhi, the stampede in Haridwar and natural calamities in Turkey and Thailand
