In a stormy session, Nigerian Parliament has confirmed the candidate chosen by President Goodluck Jonathan to be his deputy. <br/><br/>There were rowdy scenes during the confirmation of appointment of Kaduna State Governor, Namadi Sambo as the country's new President. <br/><br/>Mr. Sambo is relatively unknown and his appointment means that President Jonathan does not face a powerful political rival in Government. <br/><br/>Elections are near and Mr Sambo is not a strong contender. <br/><br/>It could pave the way for Mr. Jonathan to run himself. <br/><br/>President Jonathan, was sworn in earlier this month after the death of Umaru Yar'Adua. <br/>
