The second day of the three week long monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature began on a stormy note today morning. The issue of female foeticide, declining sex ratio in the state and contaminated water in Ichalkaranji district of Maharashtra causing an epidemic of jaundice were debated during today's session in the state assembly. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan assured that 2.5 FSI will be given for housing societies meant for Mathadi workers living in Chembur and Wadala areas in Mumbai. However the opposition created a noisy scene in the assembly by shouting slogans and staging a walk out demanding an FSI of 4 for housing societies for Mathadi workers in the state. Following the walk out by the opposition the state assembly was adjourned for 10 minutes.At the Maharashtra legislative council, the opposition demanded that a case of human error be registered in the recent outbreak of fire at the state secretariat Mantralaya. Meanwhile, state Higher and Technical education minister Rajesh Tope said that the government is mulling over making caste certificate obligatory at the school education level.
