Stop human rights abuses at home: Havel, Tutu to China

Two former Nobel Peace Prize winners Vaclav Havel and Desmond Tutu have said China will not be viewed as a true world leader unless it stops human rights abuses at home and no longer supports abusive regimes. The former Czech President and the former Arch Bishop of Cape Town wrote a joint article in the British newspaper the Observer. They said governments in Myanmar, Sudan and North Korea remain free to commit mass atrocities because of China's support and weapon deliveries. They also called on the Chinese authorities to release from prison immediately this year's nobel laureate Dr Liu Xiaobo before the award ceremony in Oslo on Friday.
