Undeterred by his suspension as IPL Commissioner, a combative Lalit Modi sought to put up a brave face by maintaining that he was still the chairman of the Twenty20 league and was merely suspended for the time being. In what appeared to be an indirect threat, Modi broke his silence since his suspension with yet another tweet which has been his mode of communication of late. Modi, who was suspended after the IPL final on Sunday, said he appreciates the overwhelming support he received from his fans. The beleaguered Modi also sought to give the impression that he was not perturbed by the rapid developments over the last few days. The Income Tax department on Monday issued notices to four Indian Premier League franchisees – Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians after reportedly finding discrepancies in their expenditure. Notices have also been sent to all franchises to furnish the investment details of all the stake holders.
