Stiff protest on land acquisition for Posco

Tension continues to prevail in trouble-torn Gobindpur area of the proposed Posco steel project in Jagatsinghpur district of Orissa due to stiff resistance by the locals protesting against the forcible acquisition of the land for the project. AIR correspondent reports that local villagers have started gathering early this morning on the outskirts of Gobindpur to thwart any attempt by the administration and police forces to demolish the betel vines as part of the land acquisition process. Meanwhile, the CPI, CPI (M), Forward Block, RJD and Samajwadi Party have jointly warned the Orissa Government of dire consequences if land for the Posco project was acquired forcibly.
