The Government has asked manufacturers to adhere to the prescribed standards for achieving the confidence of consumers. Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution K.V Thomas said it was also necessary for the manufacturers to be in competition at the international level. Addressing the 20th meeting of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in New Delhi today, the Minister said with the advent of strong consumer movement in India, the consumers were becoming increasingly aware of their rights. He stressed the need of more transparency and accountability in the delivery of public services.
