Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the concerned authorities to take stern action against those involved in acts of violence in Guwahati and Dhubri, to prevent such incidents from spreading. Mr. Gogoi on Sunday visited the blast site at Paltan Bazar area in Guwahati. He sought cooperation from all sections of people to restore peace. The Chief Minister also met the injured of the blast at Gauhati Medical College Hospital and assured them all help. One CRPF personnel was killed and 12 persons were injured in the blast last evening. The anti-talk faction of the banned ULFA outfit has claimed responsibility for the blast. So far, 52 persons have been picked up for questioning from various parts of Guwahati.Meanwhile, indefinite curfew continues in Dhubri and Bilaspara sub-division of Dhubri district. State Law and Order IGP, L R Bishnoi said that 14 persons have been arrested so far in connection with stabbing incidents in which one person was killed and two injured. Additional security forces have been deployed in the district.
