About 4000 Kashmiri Pandits have expressed their willingness to return to their places of birth in the Kashmir valley and steps are underway to ensure their rehabilitation in Kashmir. This was stated by J&K Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla at a function organized by Kashmiri Pandit Sabha in Jammu on Monday. The Minister referred to Government measures of providing transit accommodation to nearly 1700 unemployed youth out of 3000 youth of Kashmiri Pandit community, who have been appointed and provided jobs in the valley. Stating that both State and Central Governments were concerned about the welfare of the displaced people of the valley, the Minister said the UPA chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh are also monitoring several aspects of this uprooted community. Mr. Bhalla said that since situation has been undergoing a drastic change towards normalcy and the day would not be far-off when all displaced people would live at their native places. Appealing Kashmiri Pandit (KP) leadership to open channels of communication with different sections of people in valley, Mr. Raman Bhalla said that this would further facilitate the return.
