Ministry of Rural Department has taken steps for promoting provision of improved sanction and drinking water facilities at Anganwadi Centres. An official release says that the States and Union Territories have been conveyed to take concerted steps to review and jointly monitor the progress made in provision of potable water and sanitation facilities at all the Anganwadi Centres (AWCs). This will be done in coordination with the officials implementing the ICDS program of the Ministry of Women and Child Development in a time bound manner. States and UTs can issue suitable instructions to all district agencies in the State under intimation to the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation. The move comes in the wake of the emphasis of the Government for inter-sectoral convergence between the two Ministries at the State Level for promoting provision of improved sanitation and drinking water facilities at Aganwandi centres.
