Steps being taken to stop inflow of money to terror outfits from outside: Chidambaram

The Home Minister today informed the Rajya Sabha that where there is evidence that terror outfits are getting money from outside the country, the government is taking effective action to stop it. Replying to supplementaries, Mr. P. Chidambaram dismissed estimates given by some international audit organisations regarding the flow of money in the Indian economy. Mr. Chidambaram said that Foreign Exchange Regulation Act is being strictly enforced and there is a plan to amend it to meet the present day needs. The Minister informed the House that 34 terrorist organisations have been banned.The Home Minister said, there is no evidence that the CPI Maoists are getting funds from China. Replying to questions, he said, the Maoists are raising funds in the country by looting and resorting to other illegal means.He however, conceded that they are getting arms from Myanmar and Bangladesh borders and the government is taking up the issue with the friendly neighbours to plug Maoist supplies. He said, anyone found involved in supporting Maoists will not be spared.
