Statistics ministry releases Year Book 2012

The Minister of state for Statistics Srikant Jena today released Statistical Year Book India, 2012 and Dev Info India Version 3 in New Delhi.

Addressing the function, Mr. Jena said both the statistical products released today were huge socio-economic databases and provide time-series data. He said that DevInfo India will be soon available in a process mode in which data updation would be done online by the data producing ministries as and when new data sets were available with them.

AIR correspondent reports that Statistical Year Book India, 2012, published by the Central Statistics Office with the help of different ministries, gives important data on various facets of India like Gross Domestic Product, Gross Generation of Electricity, Railways, Industry and Agriculture. Devinfo India is an indicator based datatbase system developed by the Central Statistics Office in collaboration with the UNICEF. Its primary objective is to promote common accessibility of data and knowledge on the key development outcomes in India in order to enhance effective planning and monitoring of development activities.

More than 130 countries in the world have brought out the country specific adaptations of DevInfo. Keeping in view the convenience of users in accessing various data contained in Statistical Year Book India, it has also been released in the form of e-publication.
