The Chief Ministers have unanimously supported greater coordination in combating communal violence in the country. Briefing the newsmen in New Delhi this evening, following the National Integration Council, NIC meeting, the Home Secretary, Mr. R.K.Singh said that almost all the Chief Ministers across the spectrum agreed that there was a drop in violent incidents and general improvement in the situation.The Home Secretary said that the majority of Chief Ministers have expressed concern that the Communal Violence Bill will encroach upon their jurisdiction. Quoting Prime Minister, he said that the Government is committed to the federal structure which has served the country well. On other matters discussed in the meeting, he said, the members discussed naxalism related violence and terrorism as a major problem. Radicalisation of youth was also discussed. Mr. Singh said that giving jobs to 300 million youth also emerged during the discussions. It was also decided that the NIC would meet annually. This meeting was organised after a gap of three years.
