24 Science Centres have been set up in the country so far. These Centres are run by the National Council of Science Museums under the Ministry of Culture. Giving this information in the Lok Sabha today, Culture Minister Kumari Selja said, setting up Science Centres is an ongoing activity based on proposals received from the State governments. The Centre endeavours to set up Science Cities in different States. But it is for the States to initiate proposals for setting up these centres. Based on the merits of each case, the Centre gives financial assistance, the Minister said.
