Money suddenly started flowing for the cash-strapped Indian hockey on Friday with the state governments of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Assam collectively pledging 2.5 crore rupees for both the male and female players. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan and his Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda pledged one crore rupees each while Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi agreed to donate 50 lakh rupees.Earlier today, ASSOCHAM Commonwealth Games Chairman Vinay Rai had announced 10 lakh rupees for the women players who are protesting in Bhopal against non-payment of their dues. A Government official said that Sports Minister MS Gill spoke to the state governments of Haryana, Assam and Rajasthan this evening and requested them to contribute for the welfare of hockey, both men and women.
