In Odisha, normal life has been paralysed following the dawn to dusk state-wide bandh called by the main opposition Congress today. Congress activists are protesting against the police crackdown on the party workers at an anti-government rally at Bhubaneswar on 6th of this month. Running of trains, buses, auto-rickshaws and other vehicles have been disrupted by the Congress workers, while educational institutions, shops and business establishments have remained closed. National and state highways have been blocked by burning of tyres by the bandh supporters. A large number of Congress workers have been arrested by the police at different places. Essential services like health have been exempted from the bandh.
