In Rajasthan, scrutiny of nominations for the Assembly elections will take place today. A total of 2979 candidates have filed their nominations.On the last day of filing of nominations yesterday, 1724 candidates, including 253 women, filed their nominations. Saturday is the last date for withdrawal of names.
In Chhattisgarh, political parties have now geared up their campaign for the second phase of elections. Public meetings and campaigns by prominent leaders and star campaigners have begun in different parts of the state. Congress president Sonia Gandhi addressed public meetings in Ambikapur and Bhilai while the BJP National President Rajnath Singh has addressed public meetings at Bhatgaon, Pratappur and Baikunthpur yesterday.
In Madhya Pradesh, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudhir Tripathi will be on a two day tour of the state from today to review poll preparations.
In Mizoram, electioneering activities are at its peak with just 12 days left for the assembly polls. Political parties have started door to door campaigns. Altogether, 142 candidates will fight for the 40 member Mizoram assembly election.
In Delhi, 32 candidates filed their nominations yesterday, taking the total number of nominations to 55. Saturday is the last day for filling of nominations. Scrutiny will take place on the 18th and nominations can be withdrawn by the 20th of this month. Polling for the 70-member Assembly will be held on the 4th of next month.
