The state governments have been advised to keep a vigil to check smuggling of fertilizers, if any, from India to neighbouring countries through land and sea routes. The Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mr. Srikanta Jena, told the Rajya Sabha yesterday that the Union Home Ministry has alerted Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Assam Rifles and Coast Guards to maintain strict vigilance on the borders. He said the Chief Secretaries of the states having international borders have been asked to senisitize the concerned authorities in this regard.
