Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr M.Karunanidhi on Thursday said that the state government will continue to impress upon the centre to make Tamil one of the official languages of the country. <br/><br/>Speaking to newsmen in Chennai after a meeting of the members of 21 committees constituted by the government to ensure the successful conduct of the world Classical Tamil conference, he said efforts will be stepped up to get the status. Mr Karunanidhi said the President Mrs Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi will be invited to participate in the conference.<br/><br/>Replying to a question, he said over 1200 Tamil scholars from both India and abroad have confirmed their participation in the conference.
