State Govt declares 2010 as ‘Visit Kashmir year’

Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that Jammu and Kashmir Government has declared 2010 as Visit Kashmir year, adding that tourism sector is being promoted in the State as a year round destination.<br/><br/>This was stated by the Minister after inaugurating 77th edition of Travel and Tourism Fair and Outbound Travel Mart, (TTF & OTM), at Mumbai.<br/><br/>Mr. Jora said that sops would be provided to various travel and tour operators intending to invest in the State’s tourism sector. He said that the State Government has also decided to give concessions to visiting tourists of the State in Gandola riding, boarding and lodging and other necessary conveniences at various tourist destinations.<br/><br/>He said the Tourism Department is also going to launch special bus services through JKTDC for pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi, desiring to visit Kashmir, and other tourist destinations of Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu.<br/><br/>The 3 day Travel Mart at Mumbai organized by TTF&OTM, witnessed large participation from in and outside the country.<br/><br/>Over 600 participants from 29 States and Union Territories besides the representatives of 27 countries attended this biggest ever travel Mart.<br/><br/>Mr. Jora said that the State Government, with the liberal financial assistance from the Centre, was initiating a lot to give boost to the tourism sector by developing virgin tourist destinations in the State, adding that, stress is being given on upgradation of existing infrastructure at all tourist destinations.
