State governments urged the Centre to provide more funds for setting up new Anganwadi Centres. After meeting the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Mrs. Krishna Tirath at a conference in New Delhi, the representatives of state governments asked the Centre to increase the fund allocation for midday meals at Anganwadi Centres. <br/><br/>Briefing media after the conference, Mrs. Tirath said that the Centre has directed the state governments to ensure immediate operationalisation of various projects under the Integrated Child Development Scheme. She informed that various provisions related to the Domestic Violence Act and the Dowry Prohibition Act were also discussed at the conference. <br/><br/>Replying to a question on the stance of Khap Panchayats on intercaste marriages, she said that it is a social issue and that the Law and society should work together to find an amicable solution to the problem.
