The two day meeting of the committee on GST consisting of the finance ministers of all the states will commence from tomorrow in Kolkata in the presence of Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley. – Government sources said the Finance minister of West Bengal Mr. Amit Mitra will preside over the meeting. Presently, Mr. Mitra is the Chairperson of the Special Empowered Committee on GST consisting of Finance ministers of the states. During the two day meeting, efforts will be to reach at a consensus among the states on GST Bill, said the sources.It may be mentioned that, West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee in the beginning, though opposed to the GST, has now expressed her support to the bill. She has asked State Finance Minister, Mr. Amit Mitra to try for the speedy passage of GST bill.
