In Uttar Pradesh, the State Election Commission has started preparations for ensuing Local Bodies’ elections. However, the schedule of elections will be announced later. An official spokesman told AIR Gorakhpur correspondent that district-wise meetings are being held for peaceful conduct of the elections while the preparation of electoral rolls have almost been completed. The state Election Commissioner for Local Bodies and Panchayats, Rajendra Bhaunwal said, for the first time, Electronic Voting Machines will be used in these elections.
