India has expressed the hope that talks between Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao on Friday in Hanoi will be cordial and productive. Ahead of the talks, sources said on Thursday that there is all the reason to believe that the talks will be substantive, cordial and productive. The Prime Minister arrived in Hanoi this evening on a three day visit to Vietnam on the third and final leg of his Asia tour.Earlier while replying to a question after delivering the Khazane lecture at Kualumpur on Wednesday, the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had said that there are enormous possibilities to work with China. He said that he looked upon the world as a large enough place to accommodate the, growth and ambitions of both India and China. He said that it is in this sense that India approaches its relations with China. AIR correspondent says that boundary question and other bilateral, regional and international issues are likely to come up for discussion at the meeting being held on the sidelines of the East Asia summit. The issue of stapled visa to the residents of Jammu & Kashmir as well as Beijing's assistance in projects in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir are areas of concern for India and these could also be taken up by the Indian side.India is likely to affirm its position that there should be a uniform practice of issuing visa by China to the residents regardless of the ethnicity or domicile of the applicants. The trade balance which is heavily in favour of China is also likely to be taken up at the meeting. China is continuing non trade tariffs barriers with regard to services and pharmaceuticals.The Prime Minister will also have bilateral talks with the President of South Korea on Friday. He will attend the India -ASEAN summit and East Asia summit on Saturday.The Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma has said that outstanding issues with regard to POSCO steel plant to be set up by South Korea Company will be addressed in a constructive manner. Mr. Anand Sharma who is accompanying the Prime Minister on his visit to Malaysia and Vietnam was speaking to media on board the special air craft on way to Hanoi from Kulalumpur. Mr. Sharma said that this is a big investment and India is appreciative of South Korea engagement’s in sector like car manufacturing, consumer electronics and steel making. His comments come ahead of the Dr Singh's meeting with South Korea President Lee Myung-bak.
