In the French Open tennis, second seed Roger Federer of Switzerland was stunned by Stan Wawrinka in an all-Swiss quarter-final. This is for the first time that Wawrinka has defeated Federer in a grand slam. Wawrinka will meet French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi-finals following his win over Kei Nishikori of Japan. It is 32 years since France had a home winner at Roland Garros but Tsonga's marathon victory over Nishikori kept hopes alive that could be about to change. Tsonga's best result in the French Open was reaching the last four in 2013.
