The standoff over One Rank One Pension(OROP) continues as defence veterans are returning their medals to protest against government's notification on implementation of the scheme.

The agitating ex-servicemen have said they are unhappy with the provisions.

The leader of protesting veterans, Major General (Retd.) Satbir Singh told media that the government has not given the OROP which was assured and the notification has several shortcomings. He accused the government of misleading the nation on the OROP.

However, not all ex-servicemen are joining the protest. Indian Ex Servicemen League leader Lieutenant General Balbir Singh said that returning medals could have political connotations and the military should stay away from it.

United Front of Ex-Servicemen leader Col (Retd) Dinesh Nain said they have welcomed OROP with single point protest to remove the five year review point.

However, returning medal is against the decorum of defence forces. He also alleged that returning medal may be personal agenda of protesting veterans' leader.

Last week, the government had issued notification for the OROP scheme.
