Stalemate continues over seat sharing between Shiv Sena, BJP in Maharashtra

The stalemate continues over seat sharing between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party for Maharashtra Assembly elections.

To work out the seat-sharing agreement for the October 15 Maharashtra Assembly polls, BJP Core Committee held a meeting at Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Eknath Khadse’s residence in Mumbai today morning.

After the meeting, the party’s Maharashtra election in-charge Om Mathur denied receiving any proposal from Shiv Sena. He said that another meeting will be held today at 3.00 pm.

Mr. Mathur said that at the Parliamentry Board meeting to be held in New Delhi tomorrow, BJP will present the list of candidates contesting the election.

The Core Committee’s meeting was attended by BJP Maharashtra in-charge Rajiv Pratap Rudy, State Unit Chief Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sangram, party’s leader Vinayak Mite, among others.

Contrary to Mr. Mathur’s statement, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackrey Friday told the reporters that he has sent a fresh proposal to BJP and now BJP has to decide on it.

Earlier, BJP and Shiv Sena held series of meetings Friday with respective party members from morning till Friday night.

Despite, the two parties could not reach a consensus on the seat sharing issue.
