Stalemate continues between Shiv Sena-BJP, NCP-Congress alliances on seat sharing for Maharashtra elections

The Stalemate over seat sharing between Shiv Sena-BJP and Congress-NCP for the October 15 Maharashtra assembly elections still continues.

There is no breakthrough yet as Shiv Sena and BJP have only been exchanging new proposals for seat allocation in meetings and both the parties continue to hold on to their stands on seat sharing.

Meanwhile, NCP today gave an ultimatum to Congress to declare status on seat sharing and alliance.

AIR correspondent reports, BJP’s senior leader Vinod Tawde today informed that Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai has given a new proposal which says Shiv Sena will contest 155 seats, BJP will be allotted 126 seats that include seats to Republican Party of India, Shivsangram Party and Rashtriya Samaj Party and 7 seats will be given to Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtana.

Speaking after BJP core committee’s second meeting during the day, Tawde said that BJP State Unit Chief Devendra Fadanvis will hold a meeting with Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackray regarding the new proposal and decide about the final seat-sharing.

On the other hand, Nationalist Congress Party- NCP today gave an ultimatum to ally Congress for one more day to finalise seat-sharing formula for the assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai senior NCP leader Praful Patel rejected Congress's proposal of 124 seats and reiterated the demand of 144 seats in 288 member state assembly.

However, he made it clear that his party wants to contest assembly elections in alliance with Congress.
